Unique Outdoor Teaching Opportunity at Valley Parent Preschool (Filled!)
Please note that as of February 26th, 2017, this position has been filled and we are no longer accepting applications. Thank you for your interest!
Do you love teaching but prefer a classroom without walls? Valley Parent Preschool in Danville is looking for an outdoor teacher for Explorers, our popular parent-participation nature program. Classes are 100% outdoors in all types of weather (rain, shine, hail and more!) and take place at local nature areas including San Ramon, Danville, and Walnut Creek.
Training begins now with significant flexibility, and moves to approximately 15-21 hours a week in September. Exact fall schedule will be determined between the Director and Teacher.
VPP is a school year program and generally follows the SRVUSD calendar. Explorers classes take place approximately thirty weeks per school year between September and mid-May.
Applicants must have a strong background (education and experience) in Early Childhood Education, be CPR and First Aid certified, pass all required background checks, be able to lift and transport a wagon containing class supplies, have reliable transportation, and be comfortable teaching outdoors for multiple hours at a time.
If you think exploring creeks, climbing trees, balancing on logs, searching for bugs and hiking with kiddos and their parents sounds like a great way to spend your day, this unique teaching opportunity might be for you! You can learn more about Valley Parent’s Explorers program at valleyparent.org/explorers as well as see lots of class pictures on VPP’s Facebook page, facebook.com/ValleyParentPreschool.
Candidates should be very warm, welcoming, organized, adventurous, extremely reliable, comfortable teaching with parents present, and enjoy being outdoors in all types of weather.
Teachers receive 20 PTO hours their first year, and 8 additional PTO hours with each year of service until a max of 52 hours is reached. Paid prep time is provided weekly.
Valley Parent is an equal opportunity employer and encourages all applicants who are qualified to apply. Interested parties may email a cover letter and resume to Valley Parent Director, Sarah Bradford, at sarah@valleyparent.org.
